Your Place or Mine? by Portia MacIntosh was everything I expected it would be. It’s high on the drama, awkward situations, and funny shenanigans. Basically, the entertaining rom-com I’d anticipated.
My Overview
When Serena and Ziggy found themselves house-sitting together their friends’ home, they both agreed to stay. Neither had nowhere else to live. Each of them knew living together for months was the last thing they wanted to do, but all they could do was secretly tried to drive each other out of the home. If only their friends hadn’t enlisted Serena and Ziggy to house-sit together.
What I enjoyed most about this story, were the various storylines that mingled to add depth to the story. In addition to the your place or mine dilemma, there are other storylines that added to the drama and entertainment. To avoid spoilers, I won’t mention them specifically, but I did enjoy the multiple layers they added to the story.
Aside from the multiple storylines, this story includes three tropes (unless I lost count):
- Enemies to lovers
- Forced close proximity
- Fake dating
If you enjoy those tropes in rom-coms, you’ll likely enjoy this one. This story made me laugh and kept me entertained throughout. It’s perfect for escapism reading.
My Recommendation
If you can, listen to the audiobook. I’ve listened to quite a few of Portia MacIntosh’s, and always enjoy the narration of her books by Karen Cass. I actually started reading this book on my Kindle, because the audiobook release had been delayed. As soon as the audiobook was released, I switched to it. Funny enough, while I was reading the book on my Kindle I could actually hear it in my mind as if Karen Cass was reading it 😄.
Have you read this book yet?
