This book is part of my 10 Christmas Books For This Holiday Season – 2023.

Snowed In by Catherine Walsh is a witty romantic comedy about two old acquaintances who agree to fake date, in order to survive the holidays with their families.

My Overview

Megan became a pariah in her small village in Dublin four years ago, when she left the town “golden boy” at the altar. She’s definitely not looking forward to returning there for Christmas. Christian, on the other hand, has always been known in that village as the local “bad boy”, who’s perpetually single. He’s not looking forward to attending the holiday festivities with his family, single once again. Christian and Megan go way back since they grew up in the same village, but were never close friends. When they run into each other at a pub in Dublin, they agree to fake date to get through the holidays with their families. What follows is an entertaining story set during Christmas time, with plenty of heartfelt moments throughout. Megan and Christian went into the fake dating agreement to help each other, but getting snowed in is what helps them both.

This story worked well for me, because it has everything I look for in a rom-com:

  • Witty banter
  • Funny and awkward situations
  • Great setting
  • Strong supporting characters

Overall, this is an entertaining rom-com full of holiday cheer and family drama. I really enjoyed catching up with the Fitzpatrick family. Book 1 (Holiday Romance), was based on Molly and Andrew’s story. In Book 2, Megan and Christian (Andrew’s brother) take center stage. This story does a great job of incorporating the characters from Book 1, while still working well as a standalone story.

My Recommendation

What a great way to kick off my holiday reading again! I enjoyed this heartwarming and entertaining story, which had just the right amount of holiday cheer. The audiobook narration is great, so I highly recommend it.
