Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey is a charming rom-com with great banter, lovable characters, and cozy fall vibes 🍂.
Theodora (Teddy) Phillips got dumped by her boyfriend Richard, on the evening she expected he was going to propose. Assuming the proposal was coming, she prepared his favorite dinner and queued a playlist. No one was more surprised than Teddy, when Richard told her they should break-up and asked her to move out of the town home they shared. Confused and brokenhearted, Teddy ends up staying with her best friends. When she begins corresponding by email with Everett St. James, the host of a local children’s show, her life takes an unexpected turn.
This story has everything I look for in a good rom-com:
- Witty banter
- Great setting
- Funny and awkward situations
- Strong supporting characters
Teddy and Everett are both funny and witty. I enjoyed the banter between them (especially their emails). In addition, their friends and family were strong supporting characters and kept the story interesting. Add to that the charming setting in Ohio, and this story has all the elements I enjoy!
While this is definitely a rom-com, the focus is mainly on Teddy’s journey of self-discovery. She has issues from her childhood that have carried into her adult life. To protect herself, she’s learned to be what others want her to be, rather than choosing her own path. Over the span of one year, Teddy’s life changes in ways she hadn’t expected.
Based on the cover, you wouldn’t guess there are lots of fall vibes in this story … but there are. The story takes place over the span of one year, beginning in the fall.
This is a fun romantic comedy with plenty of fall vibes … and I very sincerely loved it. I’ve read other books by Kerry Winfrey, and this one is my favorite. Overall, this is a heartwarming and entertaining story with an uplifting message. I read the Kindle edition last year, and listened to the audiobook this year. I recommend either.
