The Plus One Pact by Portia MacIntosh is a witty and entertaining romantic comedy of the fake dating trope.

Available on Kindle Unlimited.

My Overview

Cara couldn’t tell you why her ex-boyfriend is still invited to her cousin’s upcoming wedding. What she could tell you, is that she’s definitely upset about it. Not only will she have to see her ex again, but she doesn’t have a plus one to bring to the wedding! She’s completely single, and has literally run out of eligible bachelors on her dating app 😯. Fortunately, she happens to meet Millsy at a bar one night. Realizing they’re both facing the same unfavorable situation (single and lots of family obligations to attend), they decide to form the plus one pact. So, rather than having to attend social events alone, they’ll be each other’s plus one.

Is it smooth sailing for Cara and Millsy now that they have a plus one to attend events with? Nope. It seems, these two are jinxed because lots goes wrong at the various events they attend together. Not to mention the situations that follow once their families get involved 😆.

Overall, this is an entertaining story full of funny mishaps and banter. Cara and Millsy are clever and likable, while the rest of the characters kept the story entertaining. By the end, I truly felt like I knew the characters, and didn’t want the story to end.

My Recommendation

This was a fun story, and I definitely recommend it. If you enjoy fun rom-coms with great banter, give this book a try. I alternated between the Kindle book and audiobook. If choosing between one or the other, I suggest listening to the audiobook.
