I expected to love this one based on the high ratings I’d seen for it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as smitten with the story as everyone else seemed to be. It’s a nice story, but nothing I felt invested in or will likely remember.
This is a story of the fake dating trope. The kind where the couple is forced to stay with family unexpectedly, all the time pretending they’re dating. The main characters, Hannah and Jack, each have issues to resolve. His family is loving and welcoming, but are experiencing a trying time. At the idyllic family home everyone’s staying at, their lives will change.
Overall, I thought the story was predictable but enjoyable. Sometimes stories like these are nice, though, especially as a summer read. I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, so I’ll look forward to her next book.
