The Warm Days of Autumn (Book 3)

Autumn in Sunset Harbour by C.P. Howard is a cozy romance novel with a charming cast of characters, and a beautiful setting in Cornwall.
This book is part of My Fall 2023 Reading List.
My Overview
Rachel Castle is barely getting by living in London, since she’s recently lost her job. When her grandmother dies, Rachel finds herself returning to her hometown in Cornwall known as Sunset Harbour. What she expects will be a quick trip, turns into the opposite. During her visit, she finds out she’ll no longer have a place to live at in London. She’s unemployed and homeless in London, but in Sunset Harbour she has a place to stay. When she meets a local fisherman, she soon finds even more reason to stay. Soon Rachel’s future seems brighter, and she realizes Sunset Harbour might be the place she was meant to be at.
This is a simple storyline, full of heartwarming moments and fall vibes. What I loved about this story:
- Vivid setting descriptions that immediately transported me to Sunset Harbor
- Close-knit community with charming characters
- Cornish small town setting
My only quibble about this story, is that it’s marketed as a romantic comedy. I don’t consider this one a romantic comedy, but rather a sweet love story. What I expect in a romantic comedy is humor, funny/embarrasing situations, and fun banter. This story lacks that, but instead offers a love story with depth, about woman finding her way in life, in the place she least expected to find it.
This is Book 3 in The Warm Days of Autumn series, but it reads just fine as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, yet still enjoyed this story.
My Recommendation
I enjoyed this heartwarming story full of charming characters and cozy autumn vibes 🍂. The audiobook narration is great, so I recommend it. This is my first book by this author, and I’m looking forward to reading more from this series.
