The 2023 Book Releases I Loved This Year
This year turned out to be a great reading year! Looking back to all the books I read, there are six 2023 book releases that still stand out to me by the end of this year. These are the books that either made me think, feel, or laugh more than the rest. They’re the stories that I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
In no specific order, these are my six favorite books of 2023:

Five Winters by Kitty Johnson
Publish date: January 1, 2023
This was such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. I felt I really got to know the characters, and their difficult situations.

The Italian Hotel by Phaedra Patrick
Publish date: June 6, 2023
This was a touching story about friendship, marriage, and new beginnings. I loved being transported to Italy by the descriptive writing style.

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Goodreads Choice Award: Nominee for Best Mystery & Thriller (2023)
Publish date: March 14, 2023
This was such a fun story! It’s filled with charming characters and hilarious dialogue. I loved getting to know Vera Wong’s bold determination and unsolicited advice.

The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
Publish date: November 7, 2023
This was a such a thought-provoking story, with magical realism and romance mixed in. Even towards the end, I couldn’t tell which direction it would all go.

A Winter in New York by Josie Silver
Publish date: October 3, 2023
I loved this heartwarming romance story, with a focus on family and new beginnings. The setting in New York was fantastic, and the characters were endearing.

Tell Me Everything by Minka Kelly
Goodreads Choice Award: Nominee for Best Memoir & Autobiography (2023)
Publish date: May 2, 2023
This was such a heartbreaking, yet hopeful memoir. The audiobook, read by the author herself, is truly captivating and impactful.

Vera Wong and The Good Part were to highlights for me as well. Vera was such a special character, and Cousens did such a great job with that time jump. Both stories really hit me in the feels. I also really enjoyed Patrick’s and Silver’s books. Glad you enjoyed these books too
